Two weddings and a hangover

One of Sarah's old workmates, Clare, got married two weeks ago - we didn't attend the ceremony, only the drinks at a bar in Soho. Lots of lawyers there, but a lychee cocktail on arrival, beer and wine later, and a lady crooning jazz tunes accomponied by piano and double bass ensured the conversation flowed. Unfortunately bottles of tequila and shot glasses appeared at the bar around 11:00.

When i got up the next morning i insisted Sarah get out of bed get in the car, and drive for a couple of hours to go diving, so that i could try out my new drysuit. She insisted that she hadn't had enough sleep, had a hangover, and had no intention of jumping into 15 degree water in a wetsuit while i was warm in my drysuit. Women!

Gary and Louise got married this weekend in a church somewhere in the heart of London. As Gary was an usher at our wedding, Sarah and i returned the favour by being ushers for them.

I must say, there is something truly delightful about watching the shock on people's faces when as they walk into the church foyer you say "Are you here for Charles and Vanessa's wedding?"

After the ceremony we moved onto the reception at the Sherlock Holmes Hotel. The first part of the evening was relatively......Quiet? Civilised? The way a wedding should be? Finger food, cutting of the cake, speeches, polite conversation.

Then as the party moved from the reception room to the bar, we met Gary's friends and family - all really bad influences. Too much fun was had in that bar! Below is the first cigar of the evening with Gary, and the last time Sarah and i looked civilised.

At one stage Sarah went to the toilet and the next time i saw her she was at the other end of the bar having Sambuca shots with two girls she had met in the toilet. By the time they made it back to me they were all best friends.

We met lots of really fun people, and will be catching up with some of them if we ever make it to Leicester (that's lesterrrrr). Rather convenient meeting people from Leicester considering it's proximity to Stoney Cove, especially when they offer to put us up for the night and cook us a full english breakfast.Hope they still remember us! The night ended with Sarah and I, Gary's brother and his wife realising that we were the only people left in the bar at some ungodly hour of the morning.

Don't know what happened to Gary and Louise.........
